The preservation of linguistic identity among ethnic minorities such as the Tay, Nung, and Dao in Tuyen Quang hinges crucially on the roles played by family and community. This study explores how these social units contribute to maintaining and transmitting indigenous languages, essential components of cultural heritage. Through interviews, direct observations, and document analysis, the research investigates current practices within families and communities that sustain linguistic traditions. The findings underscore the pivotal role of family dynamics in everyday language use, intergenerational transmission, and cultural activities. Additionally, community initiatives, including festivals and educational programs, emerge as vital in fostering language vitality and resilience. Recommendations focus on enhancing collaborative efforts between families, communities, and policymakers to bolster language preservation strategies effectively. This paper contributes to understanding the intricate interplay between familial and communal influences in safeguarding linguistic diversity amidst contemporary challenges.
